Taking Stock / Containers of Memories

Switch Photo

I have always been fascinated by the role that memories play in personal and collective identity. In this installation, the “containers of memories” become my vehicle for observing, cataloging, and examining personal recollections, allowing me to connect past, present, and future.

My assemblages include found objects (mostly family heirlooms and trinkets) in combination with my own artwork. Since found objects contain their own histories and have meanings we attach to them, they serve as “souvenirs” of lived experiences and as reclaimed fragments from everyday life, infusing the work with a sense of nostalgia and, at the same time, allowing it to become a vehicle for remembrance.
